Hi there, my name is Jason Jock. This is my first article on WerkQuik.com, the essential tips, and tricks. I have ten years of experience in restaurant service, so hopefully, these tips can help gain a quick steady income.
Deliver Food on Time
I know, believe me sometimes it is hard to arrive on time. It can be either due to our enthusiasm or traffic can be backed up. But, if you show a customer you are dedicated to their order, there is a very high percentage that you can receive a better tip than what was originally planned.
Worst case scenario if something happens outside your control make sure you communicate. If you get backed up in traffic or an order is taking too long let your customer know. People like to know what to expect and will be more understanding of a late order if you kept them informed.
Personal Hygiene and Appearance
This by far one of the most important tips. I can not stress this enough. Take care of your hygiene and Appearance. Always remember that first impressions last a lifetime, so what better way to impress customers with a great appearance and cleanliness. Don’t show up blasting music to where the whole neighborhood can hear. Arrive with the utmost professionalism you can. Clean fingernails, don’t smell like cigarette smoke, neatly groomed, the basic things of looking and feeling great. It looks good on you and leaves the customer with a great impression of you. With that great impression will come a good rating and likely a better tip. Just think about how you’d want to see your Postmate order dropped off.
Treat the customer as a person rather than just a tip
When presenting the order to the customer have a smile on your face. Have a genuine tone, some can sense a sarcastic tone. I know sometimes this seems like a challenge, but believe me, it’ll pay off.
We all know that not every customer is going to treat you with respect and some will just give you a difficult time, but that’s not the case all the time. You never know what’s going on in your customers life, sometimes your smiling face could be exactly what they needed to get them through the day. Just basic human kindness will help you along the way to receive better tips and better references. Sometimes you’ll have the chance to be more than just a Postmates driver, make sure to take that chance.
Analyze our market
Know the area you deliver in. Understand what restaurants are on Postmates, UberEats, DoorDash and on Grubhub. Be aware of what restaurants are available and when their peak times are. Find what places are allowing free delivery, those will typically have more orders for you. In addition, know what restaurants generally have big orders because you’ll make more money off those.
So say its 6 PM on a Friday, you’re thinking payday and delivery food go together, right? You are absolutely not wrong to think that. A lot of times trends on delivery apps like UberEats are just common sense. Pay attention to peak times for these may be your best time to receive some really good tips.
Another thing to pay attention to is what service is most popular in your market. Do you live in a Postmates, Grubhub, DoorDash or an UberEats market? Well I can help you figure that out. Check out what food delivery company is most popular in your city. If you want to do grocery delivery check out this article about what grocery delivery is most popular in your city.
Have a strong positive mindset
Don’t go into the job believing you’re automatically going to get paid large sums of cash. But you will make good money with good work. Just stay positive, some customers may not tip, and that doesn’t make it the end of the job. Push forward, you definitely will see the brighter side of this.
These are the essential basics in my experience with serving and delivery. Following these Postmates Tips & Tricks, DoorDash Tips & Tricks, UberEats Tips & Tricks, Grubhub Tips & Tricks or whatever you want to call them will help you immensely.
As I stated before we all know not every customer is going to tip, but if you work on these I guarantee you the percentage of tips you’ll receive will go up through your shift. You’re taking a great step towards a good future, this experience will help you with other jobs as well. I appreciate you for taking the time to read my first post, good luck!
