1. Automotive Accessories For Lyft

Covers & Mats

99% of your time with Lyft will be driving, so it’s smart to make it an enjoyable experience. Here are a few car accessories that will keep your car cool and clean. In addition, the cleaner your Lyft Car the higher your star rating and your tip will likely be.

The worst thing about driving in the summer is the heat and especially burning your hand on a burning hot steering wheel. This cover is great for keeping your steering wheel cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Plus being black & white it goes with most everything.

These seat covers help keep your car clean and protect your seats. Also, it goes with the steering wheel cover!

Floor mats are essential in keeping your car clean with any gig economy job. Your Lyft customers will be spilling stuff all the time and floor mats and seat covers make it easy to clean up after them. If it is a major mess please report it and you will get paid the cleaning fee for doing something they should have done (clean up after themselves).

Key Lyft Accessories & Lyft Car Decorations

One of the worst things that can happen when you get a ride is you can’t find your keys. These key finders help with that. One is more expensive but very high quality and the other is a little cheaper. These are especially helpful if you’re getting your first ride of the night. It sucks if you lose your key and can’t find it anywhere, will make you have to cancel a ride and making money till you find it.

Also, I’ve recommended two very helpful multi-tools. Finally, everyone likes their car to look nice. It’s a nice morale boost and you’ll be sitting in it a lot so you should like it. In addition, it is a tip boost, people tip drivers they like more with nicer cars.

Car Cleaning & Car Scents

It is important you keep your car clean while Lyft or any other rideshare service. Having a clean car with a good smell will help you increase your tips, have better star ratings, and destress you while driving. Because of those three reasons for keeping your car clean and good selling is nearly as important as driving while being a rideshare driver. If you have a dirty car you will get lower tips, a lower rating and it could end up getting you deactivated.

I highly recommend a vacuum, cleaning kit and the sticky paste will get small crumbs that can be very difficult to get. Car details are very expensive so keeping your car clean by yourself is a way to get major money savings.

Along with keeping your car clean, it’s important it smells clean. Like I said above a good smelling car will result in you getting higher tips, better star ratings, and will keep your car in a stress-free Lyft environment.

Roadside Assistance

In the unfortunate case that your car’s battery is down having jumper cables is imperative. The items below are what you really should have just in case something ever happens. The first kit will help you with basic cable, a blanket and other gear to help you get through your car being broke down. The 2nd is a battery so you can jump your car yourself. Finally the flashlight and blanket should be obvious, having two high-quality ones are always good to have around.

Winter Car Gear

For those of us north of the Mason Dixson line having winter gear for the colder months is very important. This includes snow brushes, ice scrapers, and more.

Lyft Car Magnets and Lyft Signage

One of the best things to have on your car is something to rep Lyft. This will put customers at ease and help them find your car far easier. Also if cops are looking to pull over drunk drivers they will not even go through the song & dance with you because they will see you’re at work and not drinking. You are driving drunk people and hopefully not drinking while doing that.

It was pretty much impossible for me to find Lyft Car Magnets so I just included the best signage but there are no car magnets on the list.

2. Car Maintenance for Lyft

In order to stay on the road it is important to keep your car well maintained. You can pay someone to do this, which will cost more and take more time, or you can do at least the basic stuff yourself. This includes changing your oil, checking your tire pressure and such.

Tire Pressure & Tire Inflation For Lyft

Having properly inflated tires leads to having better gas mileage and less flat tires. Most dealerships and oil change places will inflate your tires if you are a regular customer but that does take a while. I suggest to be able to do this yourself. Here are two tire gauges, a portable tire pump and a more expensive high end air compressor if you want something that will last.

Tire Change & Flat Tire Repair For Lyft

One of the worst things that can happen while driving besides getting into an accident is your tire popping. Just in case that happens here is some stuff to help you change your tire. Some tire repair products and a few options for a portable car jack.

Oil Change, do it yourself, For Lyft

If you don’t have oil in your engine it will burn up. If you don’t have good oil in your engine it will also burn up, change it when needed. Here are some things to change your oil and different oils. If you’re scared to do this because you have to lift your car up I would suggest going to a professional. Don’t die trying to save $20 please. Also make sure you are using the right oil, full synthetic or conventional as well as the right filter. I believe the one below is universal.

3. Bluetooth Headsets To Use With Lyft

Honestly one of the best inventions ever. Growing up in the ’90s & ’00s these were viewed as absurdly nerdy but they are SUPER convenient! Plus now these Bluetooth devices are perceived as less nerdy as they’ve become cooler and slicker. Finally, these make it so you can use your phone for a GPS while talking to someone. Below are my suggestions for Bluetooth headsets.

Two Ear Headsets

I like these type of headsets because if needed you can cover both ears when not driving and have a pretty noise-canceled & background noise-free environment. However when you’re driving only cover one ear or it could be very dangerous!

I personally use these as sort of a back up for calls. I mainly use these pairs while working on projects at a coffee shop or while having to do actual shopping if I don;t want to be distracted.

Apple Airpod Headsets & Accessories

If you have an Apple phone I suggest sticking with your expensive choice lol. In all honesty, you went with Apple products for a reason because on their consistent quality don’t ruin that by choosing an off-brand or different brand. Air-Pods were made to work with Apple iPhones so I suggest you pick them if you have an apple phone. Also I suggest covering your investment with a cover.

In the below list I included the AirPods and AirPod Pro as well as corresponding cases. Please make sure you double-check you’re ordering the correct one.

Android Headsets

If you have an Android phone which I much prefer due to cost and preformance I suggest using some of these Air Pod like headsets. They are from different companies and range in pricing so anyone can afford a good headset.

4. Car Chargers & Cables for Lyft

Android, Apple & Universal Phone Chargers for Lyft

One thing you want to make sure about is your phone doesn’t die while doing Lyftso you can call the customer if need be, look over lists, and such. Most importantly you can’t really run the Lyft app on a dead phone. Having a car charger and cords will help you make sure your phone doesn’t die.

In addition, car chargers are super important for other gig economy jobs as well so it’s a good investment. Below are the charger and three types of cords, USB, USB type C & iPhone cords. Plus a super-cord with all the outlets in one! The super-cord will really be important for Lyft since people always ask for a charging cord. Having a charging cord will make you a hero so increase your tip and rating.

Car Chargers for Lyft

In order to charge your phone in your car you will likely need a car charger to plug your phone charging cables into. Based on my research these are the ones I suggest.

Aux Cord for Lyft

Many new phones (and new cars) do not have aux ports (looking at you iPhones) but many do and if I had to rely strictly on the radio for entertainment I’d go mad. With that said I did find an aux cord for newer iPhones. Below are some items for entertainment you should consider when doing Lyft or if you choose to use it doing any other gig economy jobs.

5. Dash Cams For Lyft

In sales, we call it CYOA (Cover Your Own Ass), make sure you are not at fault and that’s what a dashcam is good for. With a Dashcam, you will have video evidence of a crash to prove your innocence. I cannot stress the importance of one of these, they’re pretty much like secondary insurance. If you’re someone that worries a lot these should be good so you can prove your innocence. Also sometimes they catch funny or strange things on video so dash cameras are always interesting to use.

I highly suggest getting an internal camera too which the higher end Dash Cams have . People can say anything so having a camera to prove your point is always good.

6. Educational Items For Lyft

One great thing about Lyft is it gives you time to study and work on yourself. Below are some books to help you get more tips and really are great for your life. If you read this you should be able to get higher tips and genuinely live a happier life. These are a few of my favorite books I suggest you check them out between Lyft runs.

Now it really isn’t easy or even possible to read while driving to remedy that I would suggest downloading audible. For $14.95/mo, you get any audiobook you want and that book is yours to keep in the audible app forever. I would not suggest listening to this as you take passengers to places but while going to pick a passenger up at night this is great.

7. Personal Protection For Lyft

I personally believe the gig economy is very safe but if you’re in a shady neighborhood you may feel safer caring some protection. I am a very strong supporter of the 2nd amendment and believe the only person that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy (or gal) with a gun. However, not everyone feels comfortable with a firearm so below are some products you can use for protection.

This list is from most affordable to most expensive however all are good. Mace is a good inexpensive option and the mace gun and taser both look like guns. In most instances of self defense a trigger is never pull and a gun is never used. People are not stupid and will make the right decision when threatened with appropriate defensive force.

8. Phone Mounts For Lyft

Gotta tell the truth personally I don’t use phone mounts when I drive. So I’m not even taking my own medicine (lol). I’m just a merc.  If you’ll buy it I’m willing to sell it. With this said over the years I really have come to enjoy the idea of phone mounts. All jokes aside tho phone mounts aren’t for everyone but for those not born with a phone in their hand they are very helpful. Here are a few of my suggestions based on my research of phone mounts.

9. Rain Protection Gear / Umbrella for Lyft

Having an Umbrella is always helpful in the Midwest and probably anywhere in the country. Many times people order to-go because they don’t want to go out in the rain. Using one of these to walk a client to their front door is a good way to increase a tip.

10. Tip Generation Items for Lyft

One of the best ways for you to make more money with Lyft is to make more money per trip. You can do that by providing good service, a clean car and by providing a quick ride without getting lost. But even with that sometimes you still won’t get a tip. The best way to change that is simply to subtly ask, here is some signage and tip jars to help do that.
