So what exactly is RoverGO and what exactly is Rover?
Well if you need help on the first question you are in the right place, not so much for the 2nd question. In short, Rover is an app to connect pet owners with pet sitters and dog walkers which RoverGO is part of. If you’d like a long answer then please check my review of the Rover and both sides of the business, here.
What is RoverGO?
The main reason most of y’all are here to answer the all-important question, “what is RoverGO?”. RoverGO is a program made by Rover to jumpstart your Dog Walking or Pet Sitting business by taking all the hard work out of marketing at the cost of 5% extra being taken out of your share of revenue. The program promises to jumpstart your business so you can get clients and business fast! That in itself is honestly kind of vague so below is a list of what you actually get with RoverGO.
What do you get for RoverGO? (source)
- Professionally written Rover Profile
- Professional Photos for Your Rover Profile
- The RoverGO welcome package
- An Initial Boost In Rover Search Rankings
- A RoverGO Badge & Banner On Your Rover Profile
- Custom Coaching
So what does that really mean, well let me dissect it a bit.
Professionally written Rover Profile
This is pretty helpful as writing these can be a pain in the butt. But honestly, this isn’t a ton of work. This is likely a $50 job max or something you could get someone to do on Fiverr.com for even cheaper.
Professional Photos for Your Rover Profile
Rover.com flaunts this as a $150 value but honestly, this is more like a $50 value once again if you just hire a friend. Or if you have an iPhone you can probably take a good enough photo.
The RoverGO welcome package

This is The Welcome Package You Get.
With the RoverGO welcome pack, you are getting the following…
- T-Shirt
- Thank you Cards
- Custom Business Cards
– 50 Cards - Poop Bags
- Bandanas
- Collapsible Water Bowls
Rover this is a $65 value. I would agree with that even if it is a bit high.
An Initial Boost In Rover Search Rankings
No this is actually a very valuable part of RoverGO as people who are too busy to walk their dog or go through the hassle of finding a friend to look after their dog are probably too busy to look through a ton of search results. Making this very valuable.
HOWEVER! This is only temporary so this might not hold a ton of value depending on how short initial is.
In addition being with RoverGO will permanently put you in the RoverGO section of the filtered search.

If this is checked in the search settings you will show up with RoverGO.
A RoverGO Badge & Banner On Your Rover Profile
This badge & banner holds a decent amount of value as it does give you something to distinguish yourself from your competition but I am not sure people put that much stock into the program. In addition, the badge is a decent size but the banner seems non-existent. I didn’t see it with a basic scan of a RoverGO profile. Here is what a profile with RoverGO looks like.
Custom Coaching
“Have questions? We’re here for you with expert advice on how to run your business and build client relationships.” – Rover.com
The above is how Rover describes the included custom coaching. This could be helpful depending on how much you use the service.
Is RoverGO worth it?
So the big question, is RoverGO worth it? Well first let’s determine what it is.
In my research from our Rover Gig Review, I have determined the expected income for Rover is $500 – $1,000 per month. 5% of that is going to be $25 – $50. In annual terms that is $300-$600 in lost revenue per year that you will be giving up to do RoverGO. However, that is assuming you can get enough jobs to keep yourself constantly busy by yourself.
I would personally price the whole package out for the following value…
- $50 – Professionally written Rover Profile
- $50 – Professional Photos for Your Rover Profile
- $65 – The RoverGO welcome package
- $100 – An Initial Boost In Rover Search Rankings
- $50 – A RoverGO Badge & Banner On Your Rover Profile
- $50 – Custom Coaching
So I would equate the total package value to about $365. That is an important number to know if you want to see if it is worth it.
So what is my answer, is RoverGO worth the 5% extra. The answer is yes & no.
Yes, RoverGO is worth it if you are not that great at marketing yourself or you do not intend to spend a lot of time creating your own Rover profile. It may also be worth the extra 5% if you plan on not spending a whole lot of time doing the side gig and just want to jump right into it.
No, RoverGO is not worth it if you have marketing experience, time to spare and plan to do Rover long term. If you plan to do Rover a long time then giving up 5% to do some pretty elementary marketing set up.
Over the answer to is RoverGO worth it all depends on how much you expect to work on Rover and for how long. If you expect to make over $7,300 in total time then maybe no.

Thanks! This was a really helpful post. I just signed up for Rover 2 days ago, but only heard about the RoverGO today. A quick look at your summary and I definitely think I’m not missing out by not signing up for the marketing boost. I’m only bummed I didn’t see your article before I initially signed up since I missed out on the sign-up bonus.
