The gig economy is a blossoming section of the free market consisting of temporary part-time flexible positions where employees are independent contractors or freelancers. The gig economy is a large contrast to the traditional economy in which people would stay in an occupation for the majority of their career.

I put Flexible at the top for a reason because this is really one of the best advantages of the gig economy. Traditional economies require you to come in at a certain time and leave at a certain time. In the gig economy, you only work when there is work. In the meantime, you do what you want.

The flexibility allowed in the Gig Economy allows many people who would often be without income make an income. College students, music artists, stay at home mothers, in the gig economy these people can make work revolve around their schedule instead of the other way around. Gig Economy Disadvantages

It would be irresponsible for me to tell you all the advantages of the gig economy without the disadvantages. Actually, scratch that it would be irresponsible for YOU to not look at the disadvantages. The gig economy is great but it does have its disadvantages many of which can be negated but I still want to mention.
